Vaser Liposuction

What is Vaser Liposuction?

Vaser liposuction, or Vaser lipo for short, is a less invasive fat removal and body sculpting procedure that uses ultrasound technology to break down fat cells, with less damage to the surrounding tissue than traditional liposuction. There are two methods of Vaser liposuction: the surgical method for large body areas and the less invasive non-surgical liposuction method. The best technique for you will depend on the area you’re having treated, the amount of fat to be removed and your medical history, and one of our surgeons will advise you which is the best option for you.

VASER liposuction is a revolutionary fat reduction procedure that can be used for minor touch-ups to major transformations. VASER lipo can be used to treat large areas of unwanted fat or smaller very specific areas to finely sculpt, adding definition. It can help with those stubborn areas, such as love handles, that will not shift through diet and rigorous exercise alone and can improve your overall shape by adjusting your proportions.

Benefits of Vaser Liposuction

VASER lipo is rapidly replacing the traditional liposuction technique thanks to a host of patient advantages. Some of the many benefits of this procedure include:

  • Smoother and more predictable results
  • Minimal pain and bruising
  • Faster recovery times
  • Improved skin retraction (skin tightening)
  • Standard VASER is gentle enough to be performed under local anesthetic
  • Precise sculpting of delicate areas of the body
  • Realistic curves and definition, even for hard-to-fix spots
  • Easy removal of large quantities of fat

Good Condidates for Vaser Liposuction

Good candidates for VASER liposuction treatments are men and women in the London region who still have stubborn fat on the body after diet and exercise have been insufficient to provide the desired results. You should be a non-smoker, and in the case that you do smoke, you will be asked to quit 3 weeks prior to undergoing the procedure. Smoking can negatively impact your body’s ability to recover efficiently. During your consultation, Dr. Resat will provide further custom instructions that should be followed before receiving treatment. It is important to note that this procedure is not a substitute for weight loss.

If you are considering this fat reduction procedure, you should be in good health and be at or near your goal weight. This treatment does not correct severe cases of excess fat; it is best used to treat mild amounts of localized problematic fat on the body. If you’re still not sure which level of VASER lipo is right for you, don’t worry, this will be discussed in length during your consultation taking into consideration the starting point of where your body is now and the desired outcome.

Vaser Liposuction Procedure

For your VASER liposuction procedure, Dr. Resat will make the accurate incision marks prior to starting the surgery. The VASER lipo treatment is comfortable enough to be performed under local anesthetic, meaning that you will be awake throughout the surgery. You will be able to leave the office and return to the comfort of your own home following your fat reduction procedure.

Once the numbing agent has taken effect, Dr. Resat will make the proper small incisions near the treatment area. These incisions will be very small, leaving minimal scarring. Through the incisions, the doctor will insert a thin cannula that uses ultrasound wavelengths to heat and melt the existing fat. The fat will then be removed from the body through the cannula using high power suction, like that of a vacuum. This process will be repeated to each treatment area until the desired results have been achieved. Once finished, Dr. Resat will choose the incisions using sutures and you will be wrapped in compression garments and taken to the recovery area.

Vaser Liposuction Recovery and Result

Once in the recovery room, you will be monitored by our nursing staff for a couple of hours before being released to go home. During this time, you will be given a list of recovery information that you are advised to follow to help speed up your recovery time and ensure optimal results.

Before leaving our office, you will be given a prescription for pain medication to help alleviate any discomfort during your healing process. After the procedure, we recommend that you take at least 2-3 days off of work or other daily activities to allow your body to recuperate from the surgery and allow your body to properly begin healing. In some cases, you may experience slight discomfort for up to one week after your VASER liposuction treatment.

Lastly, Dr. Resat suggests that his post-surgery patients walk briefly starting the night of their procedure to promote circulation throughout the body and reduce the risk of blood clots from forming. Although there is small scarring that is left behind, it is inconspicuous and will continue to fade over time.

Results can be seen immediately; however, the results will continue to improve over the next three to four months. This procedure does not prevent fat from returning, which is why we suggest that in order to maintain and improve your results over time, you should continue a healthy diet and exercise regime.

However, no fat removal procedure removes all fat cells from the treated area so you may see some fat return.

Are the results permanent?

Vaser Liposuction removes superficial fat and fat cells from the treated area, as the production of new fat cells decreases significantly following puberty the results following surgery are more or less permanent*. Mild weight fluctuations will therefore go unnoticed in the treatment area as the extra fat is distributed evenly around the body.
